Blueberries are rich in anthocyanidins and proanthocyanidins. These compounds are anti-inflammatory, reducing inflammation at the gut locally and systemically all over the body (they also are decent for pesky seasonal allergies!!!) Blueberries help repair the lining of the gut as well, being rich in proline and Vitamin C, two compounds required in collagen formation.
