The Digestion Sessions: Digestion and You

Did you know that 80% of your immune system is located in your digestive tract?

That’s a good reason for you to keep your digestive system in good working order.

In the United States alone, 60% of the population is dealing with at least one symptom of digestive dysfunction — gas, bloating, heartburn, candida, constipation, diarrhea, you name it. I imagine the numbers are similar here in Canada.

That makes a good case for maintaining a healthy gut.

Enter The Digestion Sessions

From November 9-23 there’s a free online event called The Digestion Sessions hosted by Sean Croxton of Underground Wellness Radio. It’s one of my favourite health podcasts.

Digestive Sessions

The big event kicks off next month and features 25 on-camera, one-on-one sessions with the world’s foremost experts on digestive health.

Experts such as Doctors Tom O’Bryan, Dan Kalish, Jillian Teta, Datis Kharazzian, Kelly Brogan, Alan Christianson, as well as Andrea Nakayama, Paul Chek, Christa Orecchio, and more.

You know that second stat above? The 60%? Sean and his panel of “A-list experts” cover them all in this free online event.

Watch the amazing trailer he put together, save your seat for the Digestive Sessions, and get instant access to the Digestion Sessions Quick Fix video series, including:

  • Dr. Teta’s 3 Best Tips for Beating Constipation with Dr. Jillian Teta
  • 3 Critical Lab Tests Your Doctor (Probably) Isn’t Running with Christa Orecchio
  • How to Save Your Gallbladder, And What to Do If It’s Been Removed! with Dr. Alan Christianson

Sean has also released a preview video, a “Digestion Sessions sneak peak”. Here’s what he says about it:

It’s easy to point the finger.

When it comes to digestive problems, the usual suspects are hiding out in the gut doing their dirty work, causing all kinds of trouble within.

Your health detective may blame “bad bacteria” or “enzymes gone rogue”. Then he or she looks you square in the eye and promises to take down the bad guys with probiotics and an assortment of natural supplements.

But let’s be honest, sometimes the protocol doesn’t work. Things don’t get better.

What now?

A good detective will assess the situation and make a tweak to the protocol.

Then again, he might begin wonder if the prime suspect has been wrongly accused.

In the world of digestive medicine, the latter is seldom the case. If the symptoms are gut-related, then the culprit MUST be in the gut.

But that’s not always true. In many cases, the real brains behind this outfit is … well, your brain.

I mean, the gut gets most of its marching orders from the brain. It tells your pancreas to make enzymes, sends blood to your intestines, and makes sure your digestive lining “keeps things moving along”.

So what happens when the brain isn’t doing its job?

Well, we can start with enzyme deficiencies, leaky gut, constipation, bloating, bacterial overgrowth, oh my!

Digestive supplements may help, but the real problem is between your ears. Literally. Unfortunately, most health detectives leave that stone unturned.

So how do you know if your brain is the one causing all this mayhem, and what can you do about it?

In this short video — a Digestion Sessions sneak peak — Dr. Datis Kharazzian reveals  3 Simple Ways to Train Your Brain for Better Digestion.
