My first thought when I saw the emailed announcement’s subject line, “Bernardin’s #jarsfromthestars – Whose jar would you bid on?”:
We can pickle that.
Canadian canning company Bernardin naturally makes me think of pickling things in mason jars.
Jars from the Stars
Bernardin has teamed up with Canadian celebrities for Jars from the Stars charity auction.
From pickled leeks to concert memorabilia, Bernardin has partnered up with Canadian celebrities for Jars From the Stars, a charitable initiative in support of the Community Food Centres Canada. Bid on a one-of-a-kind star filled and signed limited edition vintage green Bernardin jar. Each jar has been personalized by a celebrity.
Whose jars are they anyway?
Bid on jars from celebrity chefs such as Anna Olson, Bob Blumer, David Rocco, Michael Smith and Laura Calder, Hugh Acheson, Carl Heinrich, Lynn Crawford and Susur Lee. That list includes judges, contestants and winners of Top Chef (U.S.), Top Chef Masters and Top Chef Canada!
Other celebrities that contributed to the project include Women’s Hockey Olympian Hayley Wickeneheiser, Barenaked Ladies bassist Jim Creeggan, Toronto Argonauts Wide Receiver Mike Bradwell, CBC radio personality and Moxy Fruvious bandmate Jian Ghomeshi, actor Enrico Colantoni (aka Keith Mars to those of us Veronica Mars fans who may have seen Flashpoint but still think of him as “Veronica’s dad”), actor David Sutcliffe (continuing my reference to TV fandom, to me he’s Christopher Hayden, Rory’s dad on Gilmore Girls) …. and many others!
Items in jars include food stuff and memorabilia. David Rocco’s includes a suspicious mysterious USB key that says “Read me!”

The auction is now live on eBay Canada until Friday June 26.
